It would be hard to imagine the modern rock landscape without this album or group, who provided the template for so much music. Veterans of Portland's independent rock scene, Dead Moon combined dark and lovelorn themes with punk and country music influences into a stripped-down sound. Russell was a bass player by trade, but he was schooled in both classical and Eastern music forms — and brought an incredibly fresh vision to his work. If we spot any significant flaws, we make every attempt to listen through them and note how they play. Tons of spooky spare atmosphere, vocals that go from a lull to a cathartic echoey shriek, and that rollicking and propulsive backbeat that makes Can a band for the ages. We tend to be pretty suspicious about these things, so if the shrink-wrap doesn't look original, or if the record seems to have undergone some damage over time, we'll probably take it out of the wrapper to ensure that it's in good shape — which is why we don't have more of these.Next

Surprisingly beautiful sounds from Space Lady — a long-running street performer from the San Francisco scene — one who's almost to that city what Moondog was to New York in the 50s! The tunes are wonderfully spare, and surprisingly beautiful — often. Jack Waterson's probably best known as a key member of Green On Red back in the 80s, but over the decades he's had a long history of work on his own — including ties to. May have some other significant flaws, such as residue, or a track that skips. . Really wonderful sounds from the enigmatic Space Lady — an artist who mostly performed on the streets of Boston and San Francisco in the 70s, but who also managed to make the handful of recordings featured in this set! All hits, no misses on this one.
It was probably all too loose and. Wonderful easy grooves — from an orchestra leader who couldn't read a note of music! Late 80s garage-psych-punk from Dead Moon — their first album ever and a record that fuses decades of trashy rock into a unique frenzy that's beloved to the privileged and relative few who know it and love it! It's important to consider what underground music sounded like in the late 80s in. Like Moondog, the Space Lady has this under-tapped genius — this spare, simple way of putting. We've often found that records which are clearly unplayed will have a slight amount of surface noise, especially in quieter recordings. The guitars here are heavy — so much so that the record's always crossed over big with crowds who are always suspicious of Bowie's artier work. These should disappear when the record is tilted under the light, and will only show up when looking straight at the record.Next
